Bora Bora is a volcanic island

The island is about eleven square miles (29 square kilometers), and was formed by volcanic activity around seven million years ago.

It is composed of a six-mile long main island and two smaller islands, Toopua and Taimanu. The island has a lagoon separating the two main islands, and two peaks rising to more than 2,000 meters (6,000 feet).

The island is surrounded by a range of volcanic terrain. The island is also dotted with abundant tropical plants, including the popular noni.

The island was uninhabited for many years. It was only around the 3rd century that it was inhabited by Polynesian people, most likely from Tonga. The inhabitants of the island still speak the local language, but it is not common for tourists to speak the language.

The island is also home to the world’s most beautiful lagoon. The lagoon is the most spectacular in the world, and can be explored in several ways.

You can sail on a glass-bottom boat, outrigger canoe, or take a scenic yacht tour. The lagoon is the perfect place for swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving.

The island is also rich in wildlife. Hundreds of species live in its lagoon and reefs.

Some are protected by the government of Polynesia, but the majority of wildlife lives peacefully alongside its islanders. In addition, the island is home to a variety of exotic birds.

The island’s climate is tropical. There are two distinct seasons, with the wet season running from November to April. High humidity and frequent thunderstorms characterize this season, while the dry season lasts from May to October.

It is home to overwater bungalows

Overwater bungalows are located on the motus ringing the lagoon east of the main island. These accommodations offer spectacular views of Mt Pahia and Otemanu.

Some of these homes also have swimming pools. Those who plan to stay in an overwater bungalow should book early to ensure a prime location.
