Washington DC has always been a city of excitement and expectation. Here you can find the seat of America’s government with the White House, the capital and other federal government structures that most people merely read about. Washington DC is more than a few building for it tends to represent the American way of life and every statue or building in its area has a story to tell.

Although the city portrays a serious background with its buildings are government sanctuaries there is actually another side to Washington DC. That side is shown as a less serious image of this city and translates to a fun filled and memorable travel destination.

Aside from taking your chances for touring the White House there are actually many additional opportunities for viewing famous landmarks as well as a variety of activities that are not politically motivated. You can see theater performances especially if you happen to be in the neighborhood on a weekend. The Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage and the National Theater are only two of the great places that you can go to see performances and shows at no cost to you. If you are going to DC with your family there are many area parks and centrally located zoos which offer free tours such as the National Zoo, the Rock Creek Park or if you so desire you can tour the National Mall via the “DC By Foot” tour company. You can discover a hidden sense of serenity in the many parks where you can casually stroll, jog or even engage in a few friendly games. These parks are Potomac Park, C&O Canal Towpath and the Gravelly Point. You certainly would not want to miss the National Arboretum which is actually a great green space which is more beautiful during the fall season. Catholics, Mexicans and Chinese can often feel at home in the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center, Mexican Cultural Institute or in the Chinatown Friendship arch.
