The Treasure in Arizona
Date Added: January 15, 2009 02:46:57 PM
Most school children are aware that the state of Arizona is also known as the Copper State or the Grand Canon State. This popular tourist state was the 48th state to be granted statehood in the United States. This exciting tourist destination is world famous for its dessert climate of extremely hot and humid temperatures during the summer seasons. What most people do not realize is that this great state also has its share of fine forests, pine trees, cold winter weather and its enormous mountain range.

Obviously the most notable place to visit while traveling in Arizona would be the Grand Canon. When in the area you can easily tour the fabulous canyon area, hike in and around it, picnic to your hearts content and temporarily reside in one of the many tourist centered residences at this destination.

Another important fact that most visitors to Arizona do not realize is that Arizona has many national treasures which it proudly presents to the many hundreds and thousands of tourists which gather yearly within its confines. As one passes through this state they can visit the London Bridge and have a photo taken to document their visit. There are tours to the western town of Tombstone which is actually located 60 ft under the ground. A short distance away you can relive the various simulated gunfights and actually hold and perhaps fire one of the rifles used in that time period while in Oatman which is considered one of Arizona’s popular Living Ghost Towns.

Although not currently lived in the Casa Grande Ruins reveals one of the states oldest Indian dwellings. You can discover the excitement of Arizona as you trace the past years that have been preserved in areas such as Dos Cabezas. This is a museum where you can review an abundance of old frontier relics that have been placed on display. The town of Phoenix has the Sunnyslope Rock Garden while as you travel through the southern part of the state you can readily engage in tours which will provide you with an archeological insight into the lands pre-historic times. In Arizona you can learn how many of the previous inhabitants lived and gain a glimpse of their rich culture that they have generously left behind.

As we have mentioned Arizona is a treasure chest full of sparkling and pleasant surprises awaiting the curious traveler to unearth whether these treasures are part of the past or of the present.
